BOTTLES DRIVES

Teams can make anywhere from $200 - $1000 in one day on a bottle drive.  This is a fast way to raise some cash at the beginning of the year!

  • Decide on your neighbourhood in advance.
  • Approve the event with your association to ensure you have necessary insurance coverage and to ensure that there are no other teams holding a bottle drive on the same day.
  • Distribute flyers around the neighbourhood in advance of the bottle drive. Some neighbors may save bottles and have them ready.
  • Organize a couple of trucks or trailers to collect the bottles.  That way one truck can be dropping off bottles at the bottle depot while the team continues to collect.
  • Contact your local bottle depot.  They like to be advised if a bottle drive is coming in.
  • Have a lot of adult supervision!  Kids can get careless - Make a rule of no crossing the street to run from house to house!
  • Break the kids and parents up into teams and organize yourself so that teams are not soliciting the same house.
  • Teams will sometimes lose site of each other - If available, it helps to have cell phones and a list of cell phone numbers to distribute to parents before you start.
